Mk2 C-Max instrument cluster compatible with hatchback?

Featured Replies

As the title says.

I would like to swap to a cluster with orange backlight, which some C-Max clusters did have. The digital displays on both appear to be the same type.

I have found one on ebay with a part number which was apparently fitted to 1.6-2.0 petrol C-Max cars. The part number is 3M5F-10841-A

There is a site which says the part number from my car's cluster should be compatible. My car has 4M5T-10849-BL.

Is there anyone on here who I could pay to program it if I brought the car and cluster to them?

Thanks for any info.

The Focus MK2 did also have the red illumination.

In 2007 Ford performed an interior facelift on the MK2. This facelift consisted of the new oval shaped audio systems (same design as MK2.5) and red dashboard and button illumination.

The Focus MK2 instrument cluster and buttons can be identified by the part number that starts with 7M5T (7 stands for 2007) The older green illuminated ones have part numbers that start with 3M5T (2003) or 4M5T (2004).

Note that 3M5F-10841-A is the part number of the plastic enclosure of the instrument cluster and not the part number of the instrument cluster.

The red illuminated MK2.5 instrument cluster can also be retrofitted to the Focus MK2. I retrofitted dozens of these back in the days.

Thanks for the reply.

As my car is an LX, the cluster has the basic digital display with only the total and trip mileage.

It has the reset button that comes through a hole in the clear plastic.

The only ones I have been able to find with this display type and orange backlight are from the C-Max.

Why would you want to install such a low level instrument cluster?

You can easily upgrade to the higher level instrument clusters. All MK2/MK2.5 instrument clusters are technically fully compatible/interchangeable. You only need to change the indicator stalk to one that has the trip computer buttons.

The most difficult part is the programming but since the required hardware/software is cheap and easily available that is not particularly difficult either.

Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't aware they were all interchangeable.

Is the wiring for the indicator stalk with the buttons already present?

Would the outside air temperature display work?

Looking at some ebay listings for the control stalk parts, just the indicator stalk unit can be removed from the assembly.

Can this be done without having to remove the steering wheel? Is there enough room to access the screws with the wheel in place?
