A number of system errors come up - Ford Focus Mk3

Featured Replies

A number of system errors come up each time I drive my Ford Focus. These are

  • Tyre Pressure System Malfunction - Service Required (Only had one 2 months ago)
  • Active City Stop not available
  • Forward alert not available
  • Hill Start assist not available

This is on a mk3 ford focus. The errors don't come up when I'm sat on the drive.

Can't believe they have all suddenly failed at the same time. Is there a common source?

Ideally need proper fault codes but initial questions; a) Battery age and condition, b) Something related to ABS system  as some of those errors look related to that?
Don't guess, get Forscan and a lead (or Bluetooth version but can never programme with that) and read detailed Ford codes?

All very common issues.

The cause is your battery has a very low state of charge (less than 65%).

If the battery is less than 3 years old, then simply charge it for a minimum of 12 hours with a Smart charger. Or if the battery is more than 3 years old it could possibly need replacing.

The TPMS malfunction is probably due to a failed sensor, and not related to the other issues. Use FORScan and it will tell you which of the sensors is causing the problem.

"Service Required" has absolutely nothing to do with having your car 'serviced'. It's Ford's stupid warning message meaning 'car is broken. Take it to the garage now' They used to have a more sensible warning which said 'Engine malfunction' but in the woke world in which we live these days they were worried it might upset some sensitive drivers 🤔

Sorry, forgot to add the ABS light is permanently on. Also Stop / Start button is permanently off.
