New to me focus mk3 several dtcs

Featured Replies

Just bought a focus from a stealer ship, several dtcs scanned on a launch diag tool

have added images, the aircon is being “looked at” by them Monday due to me buying it less then a week ago, but is there anything that could be a root cause to some of these other ones, Ambient lights don’t work at all( except the one time driving down the road they came on and off a few times)

backup camera works ok 80% of the time but when it doesn’t it comes up with the message camera not available but it comes and goes, as if it’s trying to reconnect to the camera over and over.

puddle lamp I guess is the bulb.

as for the RR  Door handle faults I have no idea, it seems to work, is there something in particular I should be testing with it?

I don’t think the dealership will fix all of these and I really like the car, so if they aren’t to bad/exposed to fix I would do them , but the camera is pricy

If you click on those they might give a more detailed description.

Generally we start with a noticeable fault and then use DTCs to narrow it down.  Doesn't really work the other way so I wouldn't worry about the door if it seems to work fine.

Low battery charge causes weird electrical faults so if you can get it on a smartcharger for 12+ hours then that might solve the ambient lights and AC issues.

Battery was tested fine, but I’ll give it a go

I’ll plug it into FORScan later and get readings of the voltages at the control modules with the issues

Better off testing the resting voltage of the battery directly.  Just leave the bonnet up for 30 minutes, without touching anything else, then test the battery voltage directly across the terminals.  Should be 12.4v or more.  Anything under that can start causing problems.

This pink wire might be something to take a look at as from searching the switch pack error code is to do with the compass module, so if both are throwing issues it could be a bcm or connector / wiring issue

With some of the codes I see there is be suspecting a dodgy chassis ground (the MK3 was known to have bad grounds as they aged due to ford painting them) the ground in particular would be the one where the battery negative cable connects to the body.

Nothing a bit of sandpaper, and spanner can’t fix? Or the cable it’s self ?

Just take the earth cable off the body, sand the paint off around the stud, put the cable back on, clear the codes and see what comes back

Okay so replaced the overhead console and temp sensors error codes gone, lights seem to be working now but might have to code something as it seems stuck white, it’s a control unit of a tit x so does have the rgb button and internal temp is showing 138c still no aircon

Oh dear, hope you got all the other vehicle and drivers details, and took loads of photos before the vehicles were moved!

Just hope your insurance company are good with claims.

Got the pictures we needed, my insurance company views as non fault, and the driver accepted fault after the fact. So hopefully we are all good( company van on his part, so no loss of his for accepting fault)

just hope I don’t get screwed on the payout ( boot floor creased so write off)

Bigger worry is just how much your insurance will go up for the next 5 years 😐
