Possible thermostat problem?

Featured Replies

Hi, guys

I have Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCI, 2009

Last year I've encounter a problem when going uphill, my temp got max and I got warning on my dashboard, and I pulled over, turn on the heat to blow the heat out, rest 15 min and temps dropped, and I continue to drive.

Anyway, I can't do this every time when going uphill.
I asked some people, they were saying that the thermostat is probably the problem, but when I turn on the heat, I'm hearing "tak" sound in intervals.

Googling this, I found that blend door actuator could be causing this.

Well, how blend door actuator looks like for Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCI, and where to find it in the car?

Thanks

Blend door actuator is only for vents inside.  That is not causing your engine to overheat.

The actuator is in the footwell, on the side of the heater box.

Well, there's "tak" sound for sure, maybe that isn't causing overheating of the engine, but I'm hearing it every time, and also there's some buzzing behind the radio, when I put my key on pos 2.
In other words I might change this actuator for different reason, to stop hearing that tak.

Then what could be the problem?
One guy said to me that the propeller on the fan stops spinning, and its' module could also be the problem, cuz I only have one fan for the AC and the engine.
Again, the overheating happens only on uphill, only one time in town, after a trip to a mountain. 🙂

Yes, overheating uphill is likely to be thermostat or fan.

Though if your AC works ok then I'd suspect thermostat stuck closed.

Well, this overheating is happening with AC turned off, so first thing thermostat, then the fan module.

Thank you for your answers, and clearing some stuff to me. 🙂
