Hello all, 

I hope someone on the forum can offer insight or point me in the right direction. 

I have a 2016 Ford Focus Hatchback with stereo issues, which started seemingly without cause about a year ago. I have searched the internet but found no solution. 

Here is the problem: intermittently, the stereo will start thumping. Once the sound starts, it doesn't stop. The sound comes for all speakers and persists even if I change the input--Bluetooth, AM/FM, or in-in--power the unit down or turn the ignition to the off position. The volume knob does not affect the thumping sound, meaning that if I turn the unit's volume knob, the overall thumping sound is unaffected. 

The unit in question is the factory head unit with no touchscreen. I do not know what version of the SYNC software the unit is running, but I can tell you that I accessed the diagnostic menu and ran a speaker test with no issues located. I even replaced the fuse with no result. 

I have included a video for clarity. If anyone knows what I should be looking for or has suggestions on how to fix the issue, please let me know. Thank you in advance.
