Throttle body relearn sequence

Featured Replies

I had seen in the Internet, you need to turn on ignition, press accelerator to the floor slowly, held for a few seconds Theresa's slowly.  Do this 2 or 3 times, turn off, take out the key, then wait a minute. Start the car engine and let it tick over. I have done this, leaving it at idle for 15 minutes. It didn't work. Is this just bullshit ?

Where are your sources?
I'd be surprised if it is true as the throttle sequence could potentially happen during normal driving (there's normally an impossible button sequence) but, who knows (have you seen the battery and oil timer sequences)?

There is, however, a procedure in Forscan that does this:  "Reset Intake Air Throttle Learned Values" at least in our Forscan list for the PCM.

Hi  Thanks for the reply. I have a topdon 800bt scanner. That won't do it, this why I looked on the Internet.  I'll just have to get the RAC out, I've had enough of this car, nothing but trouble in the last few months with starting problems.

There is no procedure to relearn the values.

Just reset the KAM (Keep Alive Memory). This can either be done using a suitable diagnostic system, by pulling the engine management fuse for approximately 15 minutes or by disconnecting the battery for approximately 15 minutes.

After the KAM has been reset the engine will run on preprogrammed parameter values and start to adapt to the measured values within the next 60 or so Miles. It is best to take the car for a longer run to make it adapt. Short runs should be avoided.
