Hesitation/ bogging

Featured Replies

Hi. New here. Have a 2002 1.6 petrol focus. I have hesitation/ bogging down when trying to pull away . Worse on an incline. Have no fault codes showing. I have to up the Revs and ride the clutch slightly to get it moving . Once it’s going it’s ok but does seem to lack power when going uphill . One thing I have noticed is my tps is reading 1.15v at idle. Is this too high? Plugs and air filter new.
any ideas ?

Welcome!
Did you read "no codes" with Forscan (generic OBD readers often don't show Ford specific codes)?
TPS = Tyre Pressure?  or sumat else as I'm confused what this is and how it would affect power output?

Sorry not being clear. Throttle position sensor. To be honest. My scanner is pretty basic. But the car engine management light isn’t on .

Coked up??

Try running Super unleaded and additives for a couple of tanks and get the engine revving (+4,500RPM)

Clean throttle body

Did you change coil pack?

Is the speed sensor working?

So the t shaped hose behind intake manifold had been bodged up with tape and completely collapsed!! Replaced that and now suddenly it has life !!! No more hesitation. The only thing I have now is that when you pull up at a junction the revs rise up to about 2000 rpm and hang there. When you park up and put in neutral they drop down to where they should be .
