Display screen issue

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I've had a look through the forums and found some inconclusive answers to a problem of mine, if anyone could help that would be great.

I have a 2017 focus st line and have owned since new. Never had any issues with the car but 2 weeks ago, came home from work late at night, turned the car off with everything working as normal and when I came to turn the car on in the morning, nothing on the display screen works, including the controls on the steering wheel and no power to USB ports.

I have tried taking out the relevant fuse (as another member mentioned on this forum) and disconnected the battery for a few hours with still no luck. I have no access to a laptop but downloaded forscan free on my phone and connected it with an OBD2 scanner and I cant make out what the issue is. I've spoke with a few autoelectricians and they have advised me to go straight to Ford.

Ford want £160 just to assess the vehicle but I want to if its even worth going this route if its going to be an expensive fix that I would need to save for or if its possibly something I could sort myself.

Hope this makes sense... thanks in advance for any replies 👍

Not really. 🤔

What is the battery voltage ?

Will the engine start? or does it only crank and not start?

FORScan will only work with the correct dongle.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

Hello mate,

Thanks for your reply. Apologies on the lack of clearness.

The vehicle all operates mechanically sound. It is just the display screen is completely black and no power to the USB ports. None of the voice commands or steering wheel buttons work, and nothing coming through speakers so I know its not just the physical screen that is at fault.

I am unsure of the battery voltage as I dont have a multimeter to hand.

In regards to the forscan, the scanner i have must be compatible because I got readings from FORScan this afternoon, ill try again in the morning and add screenshots if that helps?

Thanks
