New car

Featured Replies

Hi there! I’m completely new to this forum and forums in general! So I hope I’m doing this right.

i have just brought my first car. A 2010 Ford Focus Zetec S. 2.0 Diesel. I’m wondering what are some common issues with this car. It’s done 134k miles. Full service history up until 2020 when the previous owner brought it and claims he serviced it every 10k miles.

Just need some general knowledge on the vehicle. But everywhere I look online only comes up with the 1.6 version.

many thanks!

Hi,

I don't recommend looking into common issues...that's like looking through a medical dictionary!

The timing belt should have been replaced at or before 10 years old, so that's the main thing to check in the service history.

I often do that to check if the Doctor's making stuff up!

There is actually a long running thread on common Mk 2 issues if you feel you must look!

Must say, the one I had was a very good engine, better than the later versions from what we see on here. That was some years ago though, so can't comment on the ageing process (other than my own!).

What I am seeing now though, with Mk 2/2.5 Focuses is rust, particularly near the join of front wing to bumper, and also sills behind the wheel arch. Some areas could be hidden by the ZS body kit, so check carefully. Rear subframes can also suffer:

Nearly right but you are posting in the GUIDES forum, you need in future to post in just the FOCUS forum.
