Engine Vibration Excessive Focus 2019 1.0

Featured Replies

Does this look excessive? Any movement looks to be from the drivers side mount, I can feel a little vibration in the pedals as well but the car runs & drives great.

That's about right for a 3 cylinder engine. The engine is by design out of balance.

Ok thanks for the quick reply

There are ways of balancing a 3 cylinder engine - in this case an unbalanced flywheel for manuals, or a balance shaft for automatics.

This is really just down to poor quality engine mounts and idle speed set too low to scrape through the emissions tests.

There may be some improvement from replacing the mount, but the new one will go the same eventually.

When we bought our Mk3 with 1.0L Ecoboom I remember reading a review of the engine that mentioned it has an unbalanced crank pulley.

E5/E0 Super Unleaded will help, slightly, but that's about it really.

If the mileage is above 50,000 get the spark plugs changed if they haven't been done already
