Focus mk4 1.0 92kw manual gearbox leakage

Featured Replies

Morning everyone,

I've been experiencing a gearbox oil leak on my 2018 Focus Mk4 1.0 EcoBoost (92 kW, 6-speed manual) for a while now. The leak seems to be coming from the area around the gear selector lever on the gearbox.

I ignored it for some time, but recently I could no longer engage 5th, 6th, or reverse gears. After inspecting it, I found a small plastic cube housing stuck in the selector lever. It looks like the lever is worn out and needs to be replaced.

The only parts diagrams I could find were for the Fiesta, like the one in the picture below. Based on that, I believe the following Fiesta part numbers might be relevant:

  • For fixing the leak: 7288

  • For resolving the selector mechanism issue: 7F116B

  • For cable bushings (2x): 7C445

Do these part numbers also apply to the Focus Mk4, or are there specific ones I should look for?

Additionally, could someone please tell me:

  1. Where is the gearbox oil fill point located?

  2. What gearbox oil type and spec should I use?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Comming back with update. After changing gear selector and 7288 part we noticed that there is a pressure in gearbox. That's why it was leaking. Afterwards we checked gearbox vent and findout it was not working.

So the main problem was the manual gearbox vent. Almost 0.8 L of oil was missing in the gearbox..
