Mk2.5 1.8 QQDB Crank Pulley Bolt

Featured Replies

There's a pipe directly in front of the crank pulley bolt. It doesn't seem to be flexible enough to move so that I can get an impact wrench on the pulley bolt.

I've attached a photo. What is this pipe, and what's the best way to remove it so I can change the timing chain?

Thanks

Those two pipes are the power steering feed and return lines.

They are bolted to the chassis with a single bracket and bolt.  If you remove that bolt, you should have enough movement in them for pulley access.

The tension on the timing chain is a bit slack, so I'm gonna replace the timing chain and tensioners. It's the warm-up before doing it on a GTI 😂

As always, you're a legend mate 👍
