Power Steering Fluid.

Featured Replies

Sorry for the daft question, but does anyone know the correct power steering fluid for an 08 MK2 Focus pretty please.

Can of worms there...

Early cars had red.  Then they switched to green.  But there was a lot of crossover in the middle.

There are also two different types of PAS fitted to 2008 Mk2.  Electro-hydraulic PAS fitted to most models.  And fully hydraulic PAS fitted to the 1.6 petrol engine models.

Thanks very much gents.

the manual was always right - use green - some build factory's passed off old stock of the far inferior red - it over heats deteriorates and wears the pump out - likely looks grey black in service - whereas the green stays green - coz its better and what they were ALL meant to have in there

the commonly available green comma stuff it not as good as the green spec sold by your ford dealer - it gives slightly nastier feel and its about 10% Heavier steering - ford is better

if you have red buy 2 litres of green and flush the junk out...   get as much out, poor in green wiggle the steering, empty the reservoir repeat a few times when mostly there drive lock to lock to clear the rack and after 1.5 litres you and the car will never know that red rubbish was ever in there
