Am I missing something reading this S-Max dipstick?!

Featured Replies

Hey gang!

Every place I look online, the dipsticks have clear markers for lower and higher levels. Either a notch, or shaded area, or holes.

I've attached a pic of my dipstick. It's the same on both sides. The oil does come up about 1.5cm from the bottom of the dipstick, so I'm not overly worried about that. But I was just expecting to see some markers on there.

Is this the same as others are seeing? This is from a 2017 S-Max

Cheers

Pete

Different to 2011 (all yellow plastic with indication of the acceptable level between Max & Min) so check the handbook as IMHO, there should be some indication of Max and Min.
I'm puzzled that the metal bit seems clean and dirty oil on the yellow plastic bit (unless it's after wiping?)

Thanks for commenting. Yes this is after wiping it clean, as I want to see what the whole dipstick looked like to see where the markers may be. The handbook indicates there should be level markers, but it's not overly clear.

Everywhere I look I see either holes, or notches, or some sort of etched area. I just wondered if anyone had a similar year S-Max to compare against!

Ha, yeah, I'll tell you that's far clearer (if you can call it clear) in the pic than it is in real life.

But thanks for replying and pointing it out.
