2011 Ford Focus SE 2.0 BCM issues and concerns

Featured Replies

I have a 2011 Ford Focus SE 2.0 that is experiencing weird problems that I relate to the BCM area of the vehicle. The car is mechanically perfect, starts right up drives very nicely.  inside the vehicle I am experiencing the following systems. turn signals do not work on the dash ( but work outside the car). When the brake is depressed  you hear and feel a click or vibration on the transmission shifter. The AC will stop blowing cold air. You see brake warning signals and low pressure tire warning lights and indiscriminate chimes. this will happen for a while then quit and everything is normal till we start the cycle over. I have replaced the BCM and checked as many ground points as possible, also looking for any wiring trouble inside the car like mouse issues but cannot locate any wires astray.  Any thoughts on what could be going on would be helpful and inciteful.

THanks

Mark

The problems you have are very typical of the infamous Instrument cluster dry solder joints, common on your age model.

It needs professionally resoldered. All the old solder on the connectors needs to be removed and then resoldered using good quality lead/tin solder. Have a look on your local eBay site for companies offering the instrument cluster repair/refurbishment. It costs less than £85 in the UK.

That is not a fault, and is normal. Just as the car gets older the operation of the park release solenoid becomes a little louder.

I will look into that, not sure why the break clicking goes away when all other issues stops. Also would the Instrument cluster cause the AC to stop working as well

You should be able to hear the park release solenoid working when you press the brake pedal, that's normal.

What model exactly is this Focus? As you're not UK
