Forscan question; can't find setting for powerfold mirror

Title: Powerfold Mirrors Setting Not Found in FORScan – Help Needed

Post:

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my Fiesta 1.6 for about two months now — super happy with it! It’s a very complete version with most of the available options, including powerfold mirrors.

I'm planning to install an Android Auto-compatible head unit and remove the original infotainment system. The only downside is that the original unit is used to adjust some car settings, like the powerfold mirrors and interior lights, and I’ll lose that functionality after the swap.

To work around this, I’m trying to use FORScan with a Vlinker FS to manually adjust the mirror settings — specifically, I want the mirrors to fold automatically when locking the car.

To be clear, auto fold on lock currently works and is setable via infotainment system! I just want to be able to adjust this via Forscan so I can keep access to the setting.

However, I’m running into issues. I can’t find any setting in the available modules that allows me to enable auto-fold on lock, not even after unlocking hidden settings using Engineering +2 mode. The only thing I can find is a setting called Rear View Mirrors, with possible values like:

  • Not configured without retractable mirrors

  • With retractable mirrors

  • With retractable mirrors and memory

Mine is currently set to With retractable mirrors. Adjusting this setting does not change anything to the powerfold mirrors...

Am I looking in the wrong module? Missing a step? Has anyone managed to enable auto-fold on lock via FORScan? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Auto fold on lock was not available on your model. It requires additional hardware.

Kits are available from the likes of AliExpress which will add this feature.

Thanks for your quick reply mate, however I already have this function currently working on my Fiesta. I've edited the main post to more clearly reflect what I need.

OK, it's official, I'm confused 🤔

I realise that you already have power folding mirrors which you can operate by pressing the button.

It still seems to me that what you are asking is how to make them auto fold when locking, and auto unfold when opening, is this correct or am I not understanding what it is that you want to achieve ?

To clarify:
My Fiesta already folds and unfolds the mirrors automatically when locking/unlocking the car. That part works perfectly fine and is controlled through the original infotainment system.

The issue is: I’m planning to remove the OEM infotainment unit and replace it with an aftermarket Android Auto head unit. Once I do that, I’ll lose access to the on-screen setting that toggles the auto-fold feature.

So I’m trying to find a way to enable/disable that same setting via FORScan, ideally through the BCM or another module. That way, if I ever want to turn the feature on or off, I won’t be stuck without options after the head unit swap.

Thanks for that. I've got it now 👍

So the only thing I can offer is have you looked in the Central configuration to see if there are any settings ?
