2019 Focus Brake Lights

Featured Replies

Hello,

New to the forum so hopefully you'll go easy on me!

Have I gone mad here, does the 2019 focus Vignale estate have 3 brake lights? Only the high level light is working.

The standing lights come on when you unlock the car and the fainter red tail lights come on with the head lights. I honestly can't remember if it has 3 but would be surprised if it doesn't.

I changed all of the discs and pads yesterday and noticed a really badly worn tyre so have just picked it up from having it replaced and I followed my wife home which is when I noticed it.

In order to change the rear brakes I had to put the car into brake service mode to release the EPB, could that have messed with something or just a coincidence?

It was also in a garage last week under an RAC warranty for an oil leak, during which they also changed a sensor which was related to the exhaust system. The technical language from the garage was after the sensor change the adblue "kicked off" and they had to clean the DPF. Again probably just coincidence.

Any tips appreciated.

All cars have 3 brake lights. If it is only the centre brake light that is working then you have a problem with the other 2. Start by checking the bulbs 👍

I wonder how many times people got rear ended before they started fitting brake lights for the first time...

It turns out one of the connecting pins in the lamp socket had corroded and snapped off, shorting the circuit.

Temporarily fixed with a paper clip until I can get a replacement socket.
