Titanium X MK4 no longer unlocks boot using single click

Featured Replies

Hi,

We've had the Focus for about 18 months now, last weekend got in the car using the fob and went to start but the dash displayed that it couldn't detect the key, even though the key was present.

Went and retrieved the spare key and that resolved the issue. On return replaced the battery in the normal fob and checked that we could unlock the doors and start the car, returned the spare fob back inside the house.

A day or so later I unlocked the car and all the doors unlocked except for the boot, previously before the battery change a single click of the remote unlocked all doors and the boot, now it was just the 4 doors, the only way to unlock the boot was to press the boot unlock button twice, I have no idea whether this was just coincidence with the battery change or not.

Had a quick search around, tried the action of pressing lock and unlock for 4 seconds, all that did was change the outcome of the passenger and drivers door unlock sequence as expected.

Any ideas on how to get back to the previous situation whereby the boot opens when we open up the car, I've found a number of articles on how to reset the central locking mechanism and some guidance using forscan (which I have)

Cheers Jon

Do both fobs give the same result or does one work properly. If one works properly I would remove and reinstall the battery in the one that isn't working properly. I'm not aware of nay setting that allows a key to unlock all the doors but not the boot.

thanks for the reply, its both keys, and I know it seems like coincidence but it appears to have started happening once we changed the battery.

My old 2005 Focus only opens the boot by a double quick succession of the key fob, a single click does nothing...

Must admit I haven't seen this before.  Should only have the options of drivers door alone OR all doors & boot.  Not all doors without boot.

Think I'd try disconnecting the car battery for half an hour to reset all the modules.  Does seem an odd coincidence since the fob battery change but as far as I'm aware the programming is in the car, the fob only sends a basic signal to say which button has been pressed.

On the face of it, you seem to have enabled a unlocking combination that just shouldn't exist.

Do you have 'keyless' entry or do you have to always use the buttons on the keyfob?

Wouldn't a 2019 be a Mk 4?

Indeed it would, well spotted Roger 👍

Even an extremely late registered previous model would be a Mk3.5

My bad I wrongly assumed that up to March 2019 made ours a Mk3, i'll try and update the title.

i'll double check those settings, we've always used the buttons on the fob or the fordpass app to unlock
