I have a 69 plate 2.0 diesel auto Focus Vignale.

I was a bit surprised that I can pull away with handbrake applied without my seatbelt on. It won't release if the door is open. I get a message to put foot on brake and manually release the handbrake. No warning or anything if seatbelt is not on, it just releases automatically as soon as I touch the throttle. Seatbelt is working correctly, and seatbelt warning comes on if I take it off.

Not that I drive without wearing a seatbelt, just curious if this is how it should behave, or if something is wrong

    My 24 plate is exactly the same. Seems correct to me as I don't wear the seatbelt when moving the car into the garage.

    Many people for many legal reasons do not have to wear a seatbelt all of the time, including you when reversing.

    Thanks for the replies. I wondered if I'd accidentally changed a setting when I've been "playing" lol.

    I wonder at what speed, it stops putting it automatically in park and applying the handbrake if you are moving and open the drivers door. Not sure I'll be experimenting with that
