Focus mk2 1.6 tdci 2005 goes limp mode after pressing fully

Featured Replies

Hi guys, as mentioned in the title, the car goes into limp mode when pressing the gas pedal fully or when under load like climbing hill. On the dash board illuminates red exclamation mark and cant go over around 3k rpm. No other errors are registered or any other lights are on. I have one of those Chinese "diagnostic" tools which can read/erase stored errors and shows some live data also. Its not showing any stored errors also. The main symptom is that the car lacks boost. Its just not pulling like before. I checked the vacuum valve for the turbo and its working. Its moving when remove the hose while engine works. And it moves like 1 cm, dont know if its expected do be like that much. If i stop the engine and start it again the red exclamation mark is not shown until i have to press the gas pedal for some time. There was a problem with the egr and i thought the ecu decreases the performance because of that, but now the valve is changed, no more error and still the same. Any suggestions?

You really need something like Forscan etc to read the fault codes, generic code readers only pick up what’s needed for the OBD2 standard and miss a lot of manufacturer specific codes
