Fiesta 1.4Tdci Mk6 Help Plzzzzzzzzz

Featured Replies

Hi I bought an 05 mk6 1.4Tdci fiesta zetec 39k..... only 10 days ago and im already having issues with it.

I bought this car privately and for the first week 100k of driving all seemed well started up fine drove well

Untill lastnight I was doing lates at work... on returning to the car I noticed while turning it over that it wasnt turning with the same power it had previously, I turned the lights on but they were really faint the dash board ecu/battery light was on then the display went completley blank anyway to cut the long story, I got 300meters up the road and it completly died on me...

I called out Greenflag and the guy told me the alternater wasn't charging the battery and it need to be replaced

Now im not sure What I should do... (Im not mechanically minded at all...)

should I get a auto electrician to look at it..or try and locate another alternater for it.Im not sure which one I need. I looked at the alternator its got visteon 3S6T-AA written on it. After speaking to a few motor facters they were asking if its an 80 or 150???? I aint got a clue no visible sticker on it saying either.

So Im in a bit of dilema-------------

The thing is I aint got much spare cash to really do both what would you guys suggest is the best course of action???

Cheers for any advice much appreciated!!

Jaro.

it does sound to me like the alternator isnt charging correctly or even at all.

i would think that being a fiesta and a 1.4 engine that an 80amp alternator will be the one you need.

have a look online, even ebay - most places will be able to cross reference part numbers for you.

see here mate

Thanks Stef for your advice, In the end I took it to the auto electrician who also confirmed that the alternator was indeed faulty,he replaced it with a new one think it was a bosch? dunno if I got done on the price tho all together £245 fitted  He said it was a nightmare to take it off?? Anyway glad to be back on the road again.

Hopefully no more probs for now

Cheers

£245 sounds reasonable, say £145 parts and £100 labour for what 2.5hrs?
