OBD reader

Featured Replies

A new member here, so hoping I’m not raking over old coals, but couldn’t find a thread about what OBD readers people use for fault codes.  The ones I have seen (less expensive) do not cover ABS faults. The ones that say they do are quite expensive, so what do members recommend please?

TIA

The recommended scanner that reads all of the Ford specific is FORScan https://www.forscan.org/home.html which you run on a laptop (or a phone if you only want to read codes and not do any reprogramming of modules).

The software is a free download.

You need to buy a lead to connect your laptop to the car: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0952P4MLP or to connect your phone to the car: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08H8JHWP2

I'm very surprised, I answer that question at least 10 times a week every week 🤣.

Use FORScan.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

Thank you. I'll get it downloaded.

I typed in various times for OBD readers, and all came back as 0 findings.

Thank you for the info.

I have an iCarsoft obd reader which I find very good. EBay about £130.

That's because there is a serious fault with the FOC search system. It will not search for anything that has less than 4 letters.

Give it a try. Search the word 'Cold' and you will get 7444 results. Then search the word 'Hot' and you will get zero results.

Very good for what? Dedicated Ford fault codes?

It makes a very good door stop, it's just the right size and weight 🤣
