rear drum bearings

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any ideas why i keep going through rear wheel bearing? Im talking about 5-10 miles and they are gone.

New spindles and new drum with factory installed bearings. spindle nut torqued to 174 ft lbe while rotating drum counter clockwise 10 plus times while tighting. After torquing, the drum is very hard to turn. This doesnt feel right? i ve gone through 2 sets in 20 miles. what am I missing here?

2007 ford focus with rear drum brakes. The only thing i did not do was replace the spindle nut the first time. I didnt know that was required.

Any help will be appreciated.

What model Focus do you have exactly?

This is a UK based forum and the 2007 EU/UK Focus MK2 does not have replaceable bearings. These have GEN2 hubs with fully integrated bearings. The brake drums or discs are clamped between the hub and the wheel using the wheel nuts.

What bearings are you using?

If your rear wheel bearings are failing within just a few miles, it’s almost certainly an installation
