Reversing light not working

Featured Replies

Hello, I am new to this forum, hopefully I am in the right place to ask a question about the problem I have with my Focus.

I have a reversing light issue on a 2003 Ford focus 2L Ghia petrol hatchback. The reversing light does not work, I have replaced the bulb and the bulb holder. There is 11 volts at the bulb holder connections. I have checked the bulb, it is okay. On the old bulb holder, I tried moving the metal bulb connections in case there was an issue there. Moved them to far and could not get a bulb in, hence reason for new holder.

Any idea what the problem might be and how to fix it.

That's poor. It would suggest that there is a high resistance/ poor connection somewhere in wiring. Start by checking the reverse light switch on the gearbox to see if you have full battery voltage (usually 12.4 or more) on the input side of the switch.

Check the ground. Also check the positive loaded as corrosion can be hidden without load.
