SRS error

Featured Replies

My 2014 S-Max has been showing the orange SRS indicator for some time now, and I'd like to see if I can fix it. I bought a vLinker and connected it to FORScan. The log showed me this:

Code: B0091 - Left Side Restraints Sensor 1
Additional Fault Symptom (:96): Component Internal Failure
Module: Restraint Control Module

I've Googled the Google and asked ChatGPT, but I'm not sure how reliable that info is, so maybe some folks around here can help me locate the issue. Thanks!

Not very.

This is possibly the connector under the seat for the seat belt pre-tensioner. On many models these connectors get damaged by the feet of rear seat passengers, or things getting pushed under the seat.

Disconnect the connector and spray with contact cleaner before reconnecting.

Thanks, I had already removed the seat a while ago. It has just one multiconnector, which looked absolutely fine and clean. FYI: the seat is fully electric, with memory positions, not sure if that makes any difference. ChatGPT told me there could be a pretensioner below the B-pillar.

There could be a side impact sensor in the 'B' pillar.

What happens the DTC when you disconnect the plug under the seat ?

Just tried, same error. (Plus one more, which, I guess, makes sense)
Shall I try and open up the B-pillar to check the belt pretensioner there?

Okay, found the sensor. Wires and connectors looked spotless, so I've ordered a new (used) one for just a few euros. Let's wait and see if that helps.

Hooray, problem solved. Replacing the sensor was all it needed.
