Electric windows dont have power when ignition off focus mk2

Featured Replies

I am getting annoyed with the electric windows not having power if i have the ignition turned off. I am sure I read somewhere when scouring the forum that with a modified ELM327 adapter i can change this. Also I just enabled the cruise control and auto locking doors on my car with elmcomfig. Does anyone have any other features like these to suggest?

Are there any cars on the market with factory fitted electric windows that do work with the ignition off ? 🤔

Mine does until you open the door

So does mine, but I would count that as the ignition auxiliary circuit hasn't fully turned off until you open the door.

Every time I park i have to close the windows before turning off the engine. If I dont the key goes straight to the first click of the ignition not the second so the windows dont have power and i have to turn the key again to the second position of the ignition to close them. I would even appreciate that the windows have power with the key in the first position. If someone could suggest a way to program it or wire the windows so that they are able to close it would be greatly appreciated.

Global closing? Although I think that's maybe only available with all windows electric.

Correct.

Global opening and closing is only available on vehicles fitted with electric windows on all 4 doors.

Thought so. Our old Mk3 Titanium had it.

The problem that the OP has is that they want to be able to open and close the windows (using the switches) with the ignition off.

While almost all things are possible, this would require some rewiring and some relays. It's not a five minute job and would require a competent auto-electrician who understood what needed to be done in order to make the changes.
