Insurance

Featured Replies

My insurance for 09-10 was £365.40, then I added the ZS wheels and spoiler, so told them like I should, and it went up, basically from £30.45 per month, to £40.35.

Well the renewal came through, and after they take off my 9 years, add the protection for that and uninsured loss recovery, it amounts to £830.55!! Oh and that was with Virgin, who don't charge for credit, so being a good boy I told the RAC about the extras, and even with a charge for credit (at £4.72 per month), they want only £519.41!!

as you've just proved... it always pays to shop around :)

thats good! i was with direct line about a month ago and they were charging £1400 for the year, im with aviva now and its £892 and its the exact same policy, shopping around does pay off !

It's because th spoiler and the wheels would have created a different rating factor as they will make the car look more intising to nick and is more your insurer will have to pay out if that was to happen or if your car was written off, I only know this as I work fr direct line and privilege, so deff pays to shop around!

mines 1800.... :( and i shopped around, direct line the cheapest...

Sorry guy's but it's becoming apparent that this year insurance company's are turning the screws pretty hard I'm afraid. Mine was more and is around £40 a month, in fact I left Direct Line cause they wanted way too much for my renewal so i went to M&S but still paying too much IMO considering my no claims and age..

I am a member of another forum that does loads of topics and cars and people on there have ALL noticed an increase in premiums this year. Apparently it's thanks to the younger generation crashing too much

Can you explain how this 2 level ranking system works? One goes up to 20 and to 50 if I remember but I don't understand why or how it works. My car is group 6 before the wheels and side skirts on one system and 13 on the other.

I don't personally know how the ranking works all I do know each insurance company rates cars differently and are competitive in different markets, priv and direct line instead of using a 1 to 20 rating, use 11 to 99 so they can give more 'accurate' quotes. I'm regards to the wheels will be classed as afer Market even though they are ford and th same with the body kit, direct line would have asked how much they came to all together making a different rating

You do know Direct Line have a blanket no modifications rule for under 25's? I'm with them but will switch in December when my renewal comes through.

There are no modifications on my car.... its standard (for its type)

I checked this out... lol

This years renewal with 1.25 Zetec - £1200 @ Direct Line

Changed to Aviva who only asked for £450.

Just upgraded to Zetec-S 1.6 which increased my premium to £500

I'm quite surprised with mine. For the Fiesta it would have been £875 with Admiral BUT with getting the MX-5 I'll be paying £1600 again with my one years NCB wich was better than i thought it would be. Even without no NCB it'd be £2000 which is alot but affordable if the Fiesta buggers itself up!
