MK2 bonnet latch - keeping the same key

Featured Replies

Hi,

My bonnet latch seems to be on its way out, so I'm looking to change it before I can't get in without fiddling the lock through the hole in the grill.

I've looked on here, Google etc about keeping the same key and there's one post saying someone did it, but wasn't any details on the process.

There's an AI answer on Google, but don't really trust it as there's no photos/videos to back up and show the process.

Am I right in thinking this kit is the correct complete set? There's plenty of videos on changing the latch etc, but nothing about keeping the same lock/key.

Does anyone have any step-by-step for this please?

Thanks

ford sell a kit - you get all these plates to make the lock suit your key - then assemble

If you use the Ford Part you just swap the old  Barrel over, you don't need to assemble a new Barrel to suit your Key.

From memory you just need a small Drift to knock the Pin out, It's quite obvious when you have the parts in front of you.

Thanks both. I've ordered the Bowden kit after watching the video above.
