Focus MK4 door edge guard not deploying fully

Featured Replies

Hi,

The door edge guards on my MY2019 focus don't deploy all the way on the driver's side. I can easily put them on the actual edge of the door using my hand, but they never automatically slot in properly.

The passenger side is fine.

As far as I know the car has come with them from the factory, so I don't think it was retrofitted by the previous owner.

They don't work well and a lot of them were replaced under Warranty, it's a big job to replace them though, the Door needs to be dismantled to do so.

I was hoping there's some DIY simple solution for it? Or should I not bother?

Thanks

Lucky it's still there tbh, half of them have fallen off by now.

You could try lubricating the hinge and cable but in reality it probably needs to be replaced.

If you do try to lubricate things use Silicone Spray.

I don't find that my door bangs into other cars, sadly other people aren't as careful and it doesn't protect your car from that, where have those rubber strips gone that ran along the cars on the lower section, that would help.
