Gearbox Compatibility Question – Ford C-MAX 1.6 TDCi (2014)

Hi everyone,

I have a Ford C-MAX 1.6 TDCi, year 2014, with VIN WF0JXXGCBJEB84445.
My current gearbox has the code AV6R-7002-GJ.

I have been offered a replacement gearbox with the code AV6R-7002-KG.
Does anyone know if this gearbox is fully compatible with mine? Will it fit without issues, or are there any differences I should be aware of?

    AV6R-7002-GJ

    Only the last letter can be different. For example -GJ -GK -GL -GM

    I also thought the same at the beginning, that only the last letter should be different in order to be compatible (GJ, GK, GL, GM, etc.).

    However, in my case I installed an AV6R-7002-KG gearbox instead of my original AV6R-7002-GJ. At first, it seemed incompatible because the reverse gear was very hard to engage. But my mechanic solved this by transferring the reverse gear mechanism from my old gearbox into the “KG” one.

    After that, the gearbox worked perfectly fine – no noise, no vibration, smooth gear shifting, and reverse works normally.

    So, from my experience, the KG can actually be used as a replacement for the GJ.

    Provided it is modified to make it a GJ 😉
