MK3 1.6TDCI Manual Focus faulty clutch and flywheel symptoms

Featured Replies

Hi folks.

I have Ford Focus 2012 1.6TDCI manual (6+1) titanium and it has 180k km on the clock.. It had a problem where when I was accelerating, car was somehow vibrating/shaking. Yesterday my mechanic drive my car told me that it was related to clutch and flywheel. Now I'm not a car guru but on the ford focus discussions, I was seeing flywheel issues on automatic transmissions not manual one. Do you think its worn out? Do flywheels cause problems on manuals as well?

Now it may or may not related to flywheel or clutch but Im gonna list the problems that I have without filtering.

- Car vibrates/shakes when accelerating over 90km/h. This is noticeable up to 2500 rev and goes away with higher revs.

- Around 2000 rev, especially on 3rd gear, sometime car stalls suddenly like a second loss of power like injectors stopped injecting fuel for a second and when I press gas pedal and increase rev, its fine

- When changing gears, I hear some noise like something very tense/stretched, gets released. This is also mostly happening up to 3rd gear.

Could all this be related to clutch and flywheel?

Ok today I replaced the driveshaft on driver side. And all of the symptoms are gone. Car feels like brand new. Wish I had it replaced sooner.
