You lot are gonna be sick of me soon lol

I have just been going through the previous MOT's to see whats been done and saw that one said missing undertray.

Are these a necessity and if so, should I get a plastic one off ebay or a ford one that's made from the same stuff that's on the bonnet?

No.  Otherwise it would have failed MOT.

In fact, only the diesel Mk7s got a full undertray.  The petrols just got a small cover one side to protect the aux belt.

The soft-topped tray will absorb some engine noise compared to the basic plastic tray.  so it really depends on whether you find the engine noise to be too intrusive now or not.

No, the noise is fine.  I was just worried about the water spray doing any damage if it wasn't on tbh, I didn't realise it dampens the noise as well.

It's not really to stop water splashing.  It's mainly fitted for aerodynamics to squeeze a few more CO2 down for a lower road tax bracket.

It will also keep the engine warmer for better efficiency, and reduce engine noise.

On the subject of undertrays I was wondering if anyone had got one for their Mk6 Fiesta 2002-2008? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333256858043#:~:text=Item description from the seller FORD FIESTA,- mounted on the original mounting points.

I saw this on Ebay so has anyone bought one and what do they think? It includes my 2006 1.6 (16v) engine in the compatibility list.
