Replacement wiper blade confusion

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get replacement wiper blades for a 2021 Focus (estate).

I've been on various sites and used their "will it fit my vehicle?" search tools/filters, but I get different results on different sites.

Some sites say 26" (drivers) 24" (passenger)

Other sites say 24" (drivers) 24" (passenger)

So I rang a Ford main dealer and asked what the correct spec is

They said  25" (drivers) 24" (passenger), — and wanted to charge much more for the blades than after-market prices, of course.

So I've now got two questions:

  1. Does 1" longer or shorter matter?
  2. If not, which is the 'better' option?

Thanks in advance.

Just run a tape measure over the ones that are on the car now, assuming that they work now then replacements which are the same size will also work.

I cant remember if a 2021 focus has two separate wiper motors and the blades both finish at the edge of the screen at the top of the wipe stroke? If so I would definitely buy the expensive Ford replacements as they are very much better than the aftermarket ones in my experience.

Mk4 Focus went back to conventional wipers with the cheap single motor, so the drivers side is longer.  Mk3s had separate, opposing wipers with equal length blades.

The Ford blades probably are 25".  I've seen complaints about aftermarket blades not fitting perfectly.  One inch can make a difference.  Too short and you'll lose a bit of clear vision.  Too long and they can catch around the edges of the screen.

Thanks for your reply.

They finish some way short of the top.  I've attached a photo of the wiper 'sweep' area at the top of the driver's side (annotated in yellow), with distances from the screen top/edge.

Don't forget the blades are mounted in the centre, so an extra inch overall gives you an extra half inch top & bottom.

Good point, yes.

Looking at it, 26" shouldn't foul anything, compared with 25".

You really need one of the female members to answer those questions 😂

Valeo Silencio are the exact same size for that car. I bought mine direct from Valeo as a Front Set and they are excellent.

Here is a link to the correct part number and the box they came in😃
