Hi guys, problem with driver side front door which won't unlock from outide of car using remote or manual key or handle, but will unlock from the interior using door latch. (focus 1.6 estate 2011). My local ford dealer diagnosed replacement of Latch & Rod assemblies but couldn't source the new parts from any of their usual Ford contacts, so couldn't do the repair. Suggested I go online to find parts (latch 4976084 & rod 1339484). Would appreciate some advice in how to go about this, pitfalls etc.

eBay? but contact seller to ensure the parts are correct for your car and they will take them back if they aren't?
If the part comes not as described then seller should supply a returns label (as per eBay standards)
If the don't then eBay should refund you providing you've only used their messaging platform and followed the process.

The latch assy will have a part number on a label on the latch part, source a 2nd hand part of EXACTLY the same part number and it will be fine

Or see if the cables have come off on yours, sometimes the clips go hard and snap, nothing gluing it or using very small cable ties back in place won't cure

Ebay is good. Ebay usually offers a parts guarantee. If it doesn't fit properly you can send it back to the seller under ebay's guarantee. Check the listing for the Ebay guarantee. They have a function to run your number plate, and if you get the green tick then Ebay will guarantee fit.
