Problem with Ford Focus

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, 🖐️
I’m a new member of the forum, my name is Darko. I apologize for opening a new thread, but I couldn’t find a suitable one.

To get straight to the point – I own a Ford Focus MK2.5, 2.0 petrol (104 kW), and I’ve been experiencing an issue with the power. When the car is cold, it accelerates perfectly fine, but after driving around 15 km, once the engine is properly warmed up, it starts losing power.

I’ve taken it to a mechanic, but he couldn’t identify the problem. I also visited an auto electrician, but the result was the same.

Has anyone faced a similar issue and perhaps found a solution? I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience.

Best regards to all fellow Ford enthusiasts – I’ve been a Ford fan since childhood. 😃

Btw, I’m from Macedonia.

Hi,

This is usually caused by a faulty ignition coil pack.  Has that been replaced yet?

Any error codes?

It would be better to be checked by Ford diagnostic tool (not common tool).

By the way Macedonia is Ellas.

Yes it's replaced, but still have a problem, some mechanics told me that is possible to be motor computer, I don't know what to do. I didn’t explain it correctly earlier — it doesn’t lose power gradually, but rather all at once, as if it suddenly drops to about 50 hp.

No fault codes were found, it was checked with Ford’s official diagnostic software.

Do you get any warning lights come up when that happens?

If you do get warning lights, there will definitely be a fault code.  But you must keep the engine running until you can plug in the Ford diagnostics.  The code will get cleared if you turn the engine off.

Without any fault codes it is very difficult to suggest parts to replace without being a bit of a guess and possibly more money wasted.

No error codes. Then perhaps something else.

Macedonia's etymology is from Mac ednos, which means tall man in greek.

Alexandros (mean. chasing men) and Philippos (loving horses) are Greek names. They all spoke greek. The land of this country used to be a bit Macedonia and mostly Pelagonia and Paionia (Slavs invaded it in 6th century AD).

About the issue many things could do that.

Electrical problem, timing problem, fuel anything.

As said above keep it on when it happens to go check (so that the fault code will surely be logged when checked).
