Wetbelt snapped!!!

Featured Replies

I purchased a 2016 Focus from a car sales company 6 months and 2 weeks ago and now the wet belt has snapped at 68000 miles!!! They will not help at all as it's 2 weeks out of warranty and Ford have said that they don't do the good will scheme anymore!!!! Is there anything else I could try? I'm waiting to hear back from Citizens Advice but not holding my breath! Has anyone been successful ??? Thanks 😔

While it is sad that your, I presume 'Ecoboost 1.0' engine is now a pile of scrap, it was due to have the wet belt replaced. They last up to 10 years, and most owners recommend changing them at 8 years of age.

Any warranty given on any item be that a toaster or a car, has to have an end date, it simply can not be extended indefinitely. If you have the car on any sort of finance then there may be an option to reject the vehicle back to the finance company.

The goodwill scheme was updated just last year to include more cars.  I would be asking another dealership about that personally.

As long as you have full service history (doesn't have to be main dealer) they should cover cars with the old engine up to 10 years.
