Oil Leak

Featured Replies

Hello all

My 20 plate transit has an oil leak. Been to the garage, they are saying its by wet belt casing or something. Might as well do the belt quoted £1200+vat for all of it, is that common?

I've only done 40K in 5 years, oil changed every year.

Please advise.

Thanks

Yes, fairly common for the belt cover to leak.  They use liquid sealant rather than a proper gasket.

The wetbelt interval on these has been reduced to every 6 years now, so you're not far off on time for the belt change.

Price sounds about right for the belts on this engine.  The cover would be replaced anyway so that's not an additional cost.
