Ford Focus 1.8 tdci engine temperature

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I have a question? I have a Ford Focus 1.8 tdci 85kw 2008.

When checking the Self test, the engine temperature is 47 degrees on the display, and the car hasn't been driven for two days and has been sitting in the garage. Do you think this is normal or is there some problem. Thanks in advance and sorry for the bad language

The temp on the dash test reads about 30c too high on Mk2's.  So that probably is correct.  (17c ambient).

Check again when the engine is hot and you'll probably find it shows over 100c.

Температура на тесту инструмент табле је око 30°C превисока на Мк2 моделима. Тако да је то вероватно тачно. (17°C амбијенталне температуре).

Проверите поново када је мотор врућ и вероватно ћете видети да показује преко 100°C.

When the engine is warmed up to operating temperature, the self test shows about 117 degrees. Do you think that the temperature sensor is not the problem here?

Yes, exactly as expected then.  There is no problem here, that is just how the self test works on this model.  It is around 30c too high.

Да, тачно како се и очекивало. Овде нема проблема, тако једноставно функционише самотестирање на овом моделу. Превисоко је за око 30 степени Целзијуса.

Do I need to replace the temperature sensor?

No.  There is no fault.  The car is working exactly as this model does.

Не. Нема грешке. Аутомобил ради потпуно исто као и овај модел.

Ok, thank you very much for your answers 🍻

But, but are you really sure ?? 🤔

Could it not be a special case ? 🙁

Perhaps just worth changing the sensor encase something might be wrong. 😉

Just wait for when the OP discovers the voltage reading on the instrument cluster is also wrong 🤣

I'm worried that the problem is the temperature sensor, because in the morning when the car first starts, smoke appears on the exhaust system, and for the first few kilometers the engine sound is rougher as if an injector is causing a problem, when the car warms up to operating temperature, the engine sound is normal, it just accelerates a little slower and there is black smoke on the exhaust system. So I wonder if the problem is the temperature sensor, then it sends the wrong signals to the ECU, and the ECU makes the wrong mixture and injects fuel.....?

and for the first few kilometers

So they now measure distance in Northumberland in kilometers, whatever next ? 🤔

Дакле, сада мере удаљеност у Нортамберленду у километрима, шта је следеће? 🤔

I have no choice but to create a profile on the forum. Otherwise, I'm from Serbia, I hope it doesn't pose any problem?

Sounds like the glow plugs are worn out.  Do you know if they've ever been replaced?

I don't know when they were changed, I bought the car a month ago. I want to block the EGR valve and turn it off by software, and check the intercooler hoses.

Seems I'm not the only person that worries about their car 🤣

Do you recommend pouring atf and 2t of oil into the tank to clean the injectors?

Is this okay?
