Break or scrap my 07 focus ghia tdci

Featured Replies

I have owned this car for about a year it has 67000 miles on it with all the extras that come with this model

except a few minor imperfections like minor rust on wings arches it’s in amazing condition which reflect the mileage

it had a small crankshaft oil seal leak and then after using it for a few months the fan belt snapped

I had this repaired along with the oil leak

in this process the bonnet unlock was broke the friend of a friend I had fix it was supposed to sort that to but to say he messed me around quite a bit is an understatement

couple of months later fan belt snapped again and I believe the pulley bearings need replaced it has sat for about 8 months in my yard and I’ve simply never got round to having it fixed

i I was going to scrap it but tbh it’s far too good to scrap so was wondering if anyone could give advice

also if I were to break it could this forum help with that process

Hi,

Generally I would say breaking isn't worth the hassle nowadays, but if you have yard storage space then you could do that.

Standard parts for a pre-facelift Mk2 aren't worth much.  If it's got full leather seats they'll be the most valuable item to sell, as long as they're in good condition.  Alloy wheels & tyres next most valuable, again if good condition.  Then powerfold mirrors and cruise control steering wheel if those are fitted.  If it's got the premium audio system or climate control then those are difficult to find nowadays.

Scrap the cat, battery and motors (alternator etc) separately then weigh the shell in as light iron, or just have it collected free by your local scrap yard.

I wouldn't expect to sell doors or body panels as you need someone looking for that colour at that time which is unlikely unless you're happy to store it for months.

Definitely worth asking your local 'we buy scrap cars' how much they'd offer in it's current state before going down the roue of breaking.

sell it on spare or repair
