Spark Plug replacement guide

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have 2021 Fiesta Mild Hybrid and the wife has a 2020 Puma - same engine, both coming up to 30k miles. I'm looking at changing spark plugs soon-ish, but removing the coils doesn't seem very easy. There's some kind of pump over the 3rd cylinder with a metal pipe that will need removed. I've changed plugs many times, but id appreciate if there's any guides on doing so available. A quick a google search doesn't yield anything for these engines. Any help appreciated. Thanks

A photo would help

And to post it in the Fiesta forum too

It's the high pressure pipe from the high pressure fuel pump that's in the way.  The routing is slightly different to the old wetbelt engine.  Though I'd be a bit surprised if they'd designed it so poorly that the coil pack can't be removed without disturbing the the high pressure pipework!

Thanks for the input - centre coil comes out ok, the far left one has a small line that can be popped out and will give room, but the coil on right, is directly below one of the HPFP line (thanks for that answer above) That line doesn't look like it can be disconnected at all, the hard line to the rail looks like it may have to come off then the fuel pump loosened and removed?? Im guessing a bit here, and it all seems a bit excessive for a plug swap. That's why I was looking to see if there was any guides on this process. I bought the Haynes e-manual for my wife's Puma, but there's no mention of plug swaps procedure. Attached image for clarity. Thanks

I wonder whether you can unbolt the coilpack and then rotate it to pass the fuel line?  High pressure lines are usually meant to be single use, not undone and redone every few years.

The pipe in question is just the low pressure fuel line of the high pressure fuel pump.

It is actually a metal quick connect coupling. To remove the coilpack you just have to disconnect the quick connect coupling.

Great information above. Thank you - i,m just not familiar with that type of coupling. Appreciate the help. 😁
