Struggling to turn over and engine malfunction light

Featured Replies

My Focus has had this issue for a little while where she’ll start, but it’ll take longer to turn over and struggles to a little, but she’ll eventually start and come up with the ‘engine malfunction’ message, and the revs jump and drop a bit. Can normally sort this by letting her run and warm up like this, turning it off, then starting back up and it’ll start normally and be okay.

This morning, being quite a cold morning, she barely turns over, not enough to start and all dash lights and headlights flash on and off when turning over which makes me think it could be a battery issue.

Apart from this I’m not entirely sure what else it could be, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Alfie

Funny that's what 99% of people would think.

So get a multimeter and take some measurements.
