2017 Ecoboost running on after ignition turned off

Featured Replies

Hi all thanks for the ongoing support. Daughter’s car has started doing the above, took to local garage but they couldn’t find anything wrong. Seems to happen when she’s using the aircon and not when she doesn’t. She also reports it feels like the car continues to accelerate as she brakes. Any thoughts please? Thanks as always.

.......and the car and engine is ? 🤣

I could guess that its a Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost but I was taught "never assume, always ask"

Yeah possibly thank you

Water in the Body Control Module (fuse box) behind the glove box?

Is the engine definitely running whilst switched off? It's normal for the engine fan to run for a few seconds after the engine is switched off if AC is on, and sometimes coolant will continue to circulate if it's hot or has been driven spiritedly just before switch off to help cool the turbo and prevent heatsoak.

sorry I thought I replied to this earlier yes definitely still running it she says it has stopped with her turning off the aircon. Is it easy to free up a sticky throttle body please? I’ll check the bow to guides and do a search as I’m sure it has been asked and answered before thanks again

Sounds electrical to me if it changes when the aircon is switched on or off. Aircon creates a bit of extra load on the engine but I can't see how that would make it run on. I would still be looking at the connectors on the BCM for signs of water damage. Could also be short in the wiring.

I’ll check it out and clean the throttle

Body anyway can’t hurt if it needs it of course thanks for the help
