New Owner - Strange Groaning Noise?

Featured Replies

When I bought this (traded in) Ford a couple of months ago - from a Honda garage, as it happens - I was reassured that the slight groaning noise when pulling away was just the sound of the break pads because they hadn't been used for a while. The sound would go away, I was told. Instead, it has only gotten worse, and now we have this awful squeaking/groaning noise when pulling away, and occasionally when switching into 2nd gear. I've not come across this before. Does anyone have any ideas? It doesn't happen every time when pulling away; it's quite intermittent.

I'd say your first port of call should be the dealer from whom you bought the car and has (apparently) given you misleading information.

On a Mk3 Focus it's probably clutch whoop.  Not a fault as such, just annoying.
