Alarm Keeps Triggering!

Featured Replies

Hiya all, new here,

Ive recently got a 2010 Ford Focus

In my time of owning it, ive done 2 things, fitted a new bonnet latch and installed a carplay/android auto head unit.

Since then, the alarm has been going off, but it seems to of progresivly got worse, to the point where i unlock it to disarm the alarm and it is relocking itself and causing the alarm to go off. I am unsure what is causing it, i wonderd if anyone could advise?

TIA

Jake

Maybe help to check the setup of the android head unit if it’s got a Canbus box that lets you use steering wheel controls etc. On some of these that come with their own connecting loom there’s a single wire with its own plug/socket you need to disconnect.

I missed this when I first fitted mine and it was keeping the canbus awake causing locking issues. Could be similar with yours

You could also try disconnecting the head unit completely, and maybe disconnecting the bonnet latch wiring and shorting the connector to prove out the new bonnet latch. Maybe even try this first

It doesnt have the canbus, and i heard you need to cut into the factory loom for that, im not too keen on that idea, any ideas of ways around it?

If you use FORScan it will tell you what triggered the Alarm the last 5 times, takes away all the guess work.

The 2 aftermarket head units I’ve had (Windows CE then Android) have had adaptor looms which connect between the Ford multi-plug and the head unit. These both had canbus boxes as part of the loom.

No cutting of the original loom to get steering wheel controls etc working
