Adding 2 Extra Speakers?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

So I just got rid of my old Fiat today but remembered to take out my 6x9's.

I paid a lot of money for them so thought, hey why not stick them in the Fiesta! :D

Can I do this? Have the 2 front, 2 rear and these 2 6x9's I have no idea what the headunit is like for wiring etc.

It's a MK6 Fiesta.

Any help will be great :)

Thanks.

James.

I did it in mine so it can be done. However I'd recommend completely disconnecting the rear speakers as the stock head unit is not pushing out enough watts per channel to split one channel between 2 speakers.

So do you think it would be better to just leave it then? Or perhaps remove the rear speakers and replace them with the 6x9's

Or perhaps waiting until I can afford to get an amp?

Ok so one more question, how can I tell if a headunit will have enough power to support 2 fronts, 2 rears and 2 6x9's? Would really love to have a 6 speaker set up in the car (Mainly cause Im not allowed to stick a sub in the boot :( missus' orders)

Thanks.

get an amp then problem solved. you could split the 2 rear channels into 4. 2 into the rear speakers and 2 into the amp. the stock speakers would then only have half the power of the front but the amped 6x9's would make up for that. Bear in mind stock head units are completely rubbish so there will be no RCA connections on the back to connect to the amp. You have 3 main choices :-

1. get an aftermarket headunit with RCA connections.

2. get an amplifier with "high level input" this means you could connect the speaker wire straight into the amplifier.

3. get a line output converter. This is a small device that you can connect speaker wire into and it converts it into rca connections(low voltage).

Option 1 will give you the best sound quality and ease of instalment but is also the most expensive. you wont get very good sound quality with 2 or 3 but they wont cost you much cash as most amplifiers have a high level input and a line output converter is around a 5er.
