Collected my 231 plate Focus ST Line yesterday and am pleased it's very nippy, seats are comfortable providing good visibility when adjusted. Am only getting used to the controls but ent centre radio sounds tinny even on DAB+ compared to the Titanium sound system. Or is it me????

231 plate means nothing to us in England lol.

Titanium got premium audio system.  ST-Line probably doesn't.  As you've got the car now, you can get the VIN to check what it does and doesn't have from the factory.

Ah, that is simple enough then!  

Is it done with the calendar year?  Ours are 3 months out.  So the first 3 months of the new year, we keep using the last years plate!  (Due to the financial year being April to April).

Well Tom, for once the registration system is easy to understand after generations of a rather complex format, a legacy of the British system. The plate consists of the last two digits of the year ie 25. Then the next single number 1 refers to first registrations January to June = 251. Registrations after that become 252.

A county designation follows, the first letter of that county or in some cases if a number of counties have the same initial letter, they get a second letter.

Numbers then follow. Mine is:

231 - D (Dublin) -  XXXXXX
