Mk2 focus st rear brake light issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

have an issue with my pfl mk2 st where my nearside rear brake doesnt work. Naturally assumed the bulb had gone so replaced it to no avail. Checked fuses and have continuity over the correct fuse but no voltage measured across it with the lights on. Genuinely dont know where to go from here absolutely any help would be appreciated.

TIA, Ed

The nearside and offside brake lights are powered from the same fuse. If one side is working then the problem is not the fuse.

Usual problem is the earth tab inside the bulb holder has got pushed in too far and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

The ground tab in the lamp holder is not protruding far enough out and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

It just needs eased out a few millimeters with a small screwdriver.

In the absence of any feed back from you, I'd recommend that you take you car to a Ford main dealer who will repair the problem and charge you a lot of money.
