“Service fuel filter” and DPF issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need some help figuring out my 2012 MK7 Transit (2.2 diesel):

Lately the orange engine warning have some on. Randomly at first, then permanently. The garage used an OBD reader and it says it’s the Diesel particle filter. They did a programmed dog regen program and the engine warning light went off.

I then added a dpf cleaner fuel additive and after 30 min of driving at 3000 rpm on the highway, the engine light came back pluss a message saying “service fuel filter.”

1) Could this mean that the DPF is clogged again already or

2) Could the engine light be because of the fuel filter this time?

Best regards,

Martin

The fuel filter probably does need replacing now.

Depending on the type of fuel additive, that might even have shifted have sludge from the fuel system into the filter.
