price for a FP Drivers seat?

Featured Replies

Anyone know how much it would cost for a new heated driver's ford performance seat from ford (like the one here pictured)  ?

If I emailed them would they be able to get me one ?

Thanks.

Ford parts can't buy in full seats as far as I'm aware.  They'd have to buy the frame, cushions, covers, heating pads, belt clips all separately for you to assemble yourself.

Damn that sucks, I can't seem to get a fiesta one, there loads of puma ones but it has different runners from what I can tell and the runner is expensive to buy on its own.

Grrrr. Thanks for the info I'll have to sit and wait patiently for a second hand one to come up.

Typically I can't find it when I want to, but I have seen a price from Ford just for the cover mentioned on another forum, and it was eye watering.

(There is something of an issue with excess wear of these seats on ST forums and posters who have had seat covers replaced under warranty have reported that dealers seemed to have great difficulty getting the fit correct, so a diy assembly could be tricky.)

Looking for a complete pre-owned one on EBay etc probably the best bet.

I've been trying for months and months to get one, Puma is easy but then you need a different runner.

Maybe I could get a price for a runner instead. They look bolted on.

Don't know if you've tried one in the Fiesta but if not I'd recommend doing so before you commit to a purchase?

Depends on build and how you have to adjust the seat/steering wheel positions etc, but some owners have reported great difficulty getting in/out, elbows catching on backrest bolsters etc, which probably explains the wear issue.

Took me ages to find a satisfactory position and even now I still have the feeling the seats were intended for a larger car. I didn't find quite the same issues with a Puma ST I tried.

(I can see why you're contemplating a change though, to me the seats in the Mk 8 ST-Line are not as supportive as the Mk 7 was.)

I already have the passengers one and I love it, so much more comfortable on my legs than the standard ones.

And your right the leather and non leather st line ones are crap, I also wanted the extra lumbar support and if course had to have heated.

I've gone with Vignale pleather rear bench because of the nice red stitching on the seating and backrest and FP for the fronts because of the comfy seating.

Am I right in thinking the regular ST heated seats are just in the base ? The FPnones are based and back rest.

The FP seats are the regular ones in the Mk 8.5 ST. I don't have heated seats (don't like them personally - we're all different😀) but I think @TimST3 does and may be able to comment on that if he's around.

Yes, we find the FP seats very comfy also. No problem with access on the passenger side of course as no steering wheel to get in the way!

Oh I didn't realise the facelift MK8 only has one style of seat.

Ford changed the spec on the Mk 8/8.5 Fiesta so often you couldn't keep up!😀

I think originally the Mk 8 Recaros, depending on whether ST 1, 2or 3, could be had in fabric without heating, fabric with heating, and part leather with heating.

When the facelift came along, ST 1 was dropped, ST 2 and 3 both got part Sensico® FP seats but heating was only on cars with the winter pack option. The ST 2 was dropped before the end of Fiesta production leaving just ST 3 but heating was still only available with the winter pack.

I guess it complicates looking for a used seat - ads I've seen mostly seem to be for a complete set rather than a single set.

(Incidentally, the Sensico on the drivers seat bolsters does seen susceptible to abrasion as mentioned earlier. I've treated mine with Gtechniq L1 following a tip from @TimST3 and all good so far.)

I don't have a problem buying a whole interior if I have to and selling off the bits I don't want. Problem is I've not seen a set or single seat since around April/may when I got the passenger one that was heated.

Plenty of Puma ones though! Just need to buy a fiesta runner for them, can I buy that on its own?

Guess you'd have to ask Ford or do some googling unless someone on here has done the same mod.

NB can't recall if you have a 3 or 5 door? Most 8.5 STs are 5 door but some early ones were 3.

Yep, mine has the Ford Performance seats and the Winter Pack. The heating elements are in the seat base and the seat back.

When I bought my Mk7.5 ST-2 at 18 months old there was some wear on the drivers Recaro. I had the seat cover changed under warranty then used L1 for the next 6 years and never saw any further wear. There was no wear on my Mk8.5 ST-3 when I bought it at a year old, and I've used L1 on that for the last year too. Again, no wear so far. I'd imagine it's heavily dependant on how big you are and how careful you are getting in and out though.

No.  The runner is sold as part of the base assembly.

Mines a 5 Door

Slightly better chance of finding one then, as most Mk 8.5 STs are 5 doors. Problem is, there aren't that many around anyway. In fact I've never seen another one on the road, only a couple in my local dealers, so there can't be that many have found their way to breakers. Ironically there seem to be a few Mk 8 Recaros on Ebay.

I wonder if you could cobble something together using your existing seat base and a Puma seat?

When i first starting thinking about fitting them i saw quite a few in pairs which sold for around £800 for both seats, once i did the heated wheel install i decided i wanted the heated seats now too and figured id buy the FP heated ones as they didn't say ST on them anywhere as I'm not trying to make my car into a fake ST, by then they were like rocking horse p%$p.

I did buy a complete set from Synetiq i think they are called, but they damaged the leather on one of them removing them from the car so i said i didn't want any of it and got a refund.  I then almost bought a complete car from CoPart but found out to buy a breaker car from them you needed a brakers license so luckily i hadn't put a bid on.

The base of mine aren't anything like the FP ones sadly, the FP ones have 2 stick handles on either side underneath for controlling the positions, mine simply has like a U shaped bar across the front which from eBay photos looks the same on all the fiestas including the Recaro ST ones as well.

I will just keep waiting, if i get desperate ill just get any old half leather seat with heating for now and black out the ST logo :msn-cry:
