Focus 2023 St-Line X engine cover - garage lost it.

Featured Replies

I had my car in for a service in July.

Today is the first time I've opened the bonnet and my engine cover is missing.

I got in touch with the dealer, he said it never had one - I know it did. It may have been an after-market one, but it was there, I'm 100% sure.

I know that Ford stopped fitting covers to a lot of models around 2020-21, but again, I know I had one, it looked very similar to this, with the 4 rectangles at the bottom. (This is for the 2.3, and it won't fit my 1.0)

The dealer has said he would replace it if he could, but as Ford say the covers were discontinued he cant order one. If I can find one and buy it, he'll cover the cost.

Anyone know where I can get a cover for (I believe) Mk4.5 2023 1.0 ecoboost mhev ST-Line-X ?

Thanks.

That's easy to check. If it was there and has just got lost then the fixing pegs will still be fitted to the engine.

Usually a few used on Ebay. Pumaspeed used to sell new ones for the Mk 3 Focus, but I've not seen them for the Mk 4.

I had a cover I fitted myself on my previous Mk 8 1.0 Fiesta but always removed it before putting the car in for service!😀

I'm starting to feel like I can't trust my own mind 😞

I'm now 98% sure I had a cover, at the dealers I'd have stood on a stack of bibles and sworn I had one. I can remember telling a friend that I had no idea what the engine looked like because it had a big cover over it.

The dealer mentioned fixing pegs that looked like little chessmen, and in his opinion the car never had a cover because it didn't have them in place. I understand what he was talking about now I've seen the picture of one.

I can't even see where they might have been fitted to the engine.

I can see I may have to go an apologise .........maybe......if I could just be sure....

They stopped fitting the covers in late 2020.  There's no way a 2023 model had one from the factory.

Two of the pawns fit in front of the black plastic cam cover.  Your engine doesn't have them.

Thanks Tom.

The mind is a funny thing ........The one I "think" I had looked very much like the Ford Performance one I showed in the op, nothing like the only one that had any sort of chance of fitting !

Looks like I'll be making a phone call in the morning 🙂

I can understand why Ford wanted to put a cover on that mess! My 23 plate is much tidier, so doesn't need one.
